Welcome, brothers and sisters.
I'm Steve Morris, an old deadhead and music lover.
In 1969 I boarded a certain bus... and that's kind of where this shop all began. Sadly, I live on another continent but I rode on that beautiful bus in spirit (often all night) many, many times. I saw the band thrice in '72, and again in '74 and '81. Finally, twice in 1990: singing Werewolves of London on Halloween and blissed out by November 1st's Dark Star. A superb final show.
As well as being inspired, and uplifted in many ways, by the Grateful Dead I have also spent time making interesting images with a range of computers since the late 1970s. From IBM 370/Series mainframes, writing code to calculating data to make interesting graphics appear on colour terminals and plotters, to modern Apple powerhouses making photographic collages and Ai art.
Along the way solid stints as a professional corporate IBM applications team contractor (every role) with sundry diversions and excursions on BBC B, Amiga, Atari, PCs+Windows, Macs+OSX, G2 Paint, and Quantel Paintbox doing a professional mix of applications design, hardware drivers, bespoke software, animation, pre-press, screen printing, litho, CGI, 3D animation, TV news video, TV graphics, portrait photography & producing video shoots, A/V editing, releases... and some charity work when I could lend a hand to one thing or another.
My latest muse is image generative Ai. I don't exclusively use Ai; I also use photography, scans of physical materials, and hand-drawn sketches to set up compositional driver images. After combining drivers with prompts in Ai models the outputs works are edited in post-production and other elements combined in Photoshop before preparing for print.
I know many people are against Ai this because they think Ai 'steals art'. This is not the case; from a technical standpoint that isn't how it works. If you show many pictures of cats they learn the abstract concept of 'catness' and so can make an image of a cat. Not any of the ones shown because they're not retained individually, just the ideas of whiskers, eyes, ears, shaped and set just so to make the image that of a cat.
I also recognise that generative Ai often runs on GPU cards in data centres to give the models good performance, and this consumes power and coolants. I do my bit to help protect the planet by avoiding commercial hosting where possible and using far cheaper, albeit slower, hardware which is not as resource hungry but good enough for my work.
The designs you find here are as fine as I can curate them. I run this shop myself, (you can't get the staff around here), so if you have any trouble with the website, or with the shipping, or you would like to request one of my designs on a different type of garment just let me know at Steve.theHealer@yahoo.com and I'll be right on it. We aim to please.
If there are any issues at all with the garment itself or the print quality PLEASE DO SEND well-lit clear photographs so I can easily see what is wrong/what has happened. Good images really speed sorting out any replacement to you under our Returns Policy.
Any actual complaints should be sent to our Head Office:
Steve@lightpourer.com,
and he'll take care of you under our Complaints Policy.
Enjoy your visit.
Stay as long as you wish...
Steve
